In the Community
At CBS, we believe it is important to show our appreciation and give back to the community that has allowed us to grow and prosper for over 50 years. Below is a list of some of the service programs we participate in throughout the year:
Each month, members of our staff head to Miriam’s Kitchen to prepare meals for the homeless. Miriam’s Kitchen is a DC-based organization that advocates for permanent supportive housing as a long-term solution, while meeting short-term needs by providing healthy meals and social services to more than 4,300 chronically homeless individuals each year. JDRF Real Estate Games
Each summer, CBS employees compete in various sporting events at the JDRF Real Estate Games. This friendly competition between DC area real estate companies raises money in support of JDRF’s mission to search for an end to type 1 diabetes, through both research funding and advocacy. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation
During the holiday season, CBS and Donohoe employees collect new toys for children ages 1-16. These toys are distributed to needy families in the DC area in time to enjoy Christmas morning. The Toys for Tots Foundation’s goal is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate children that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Lee National Denim Day
Each October, CBS employees donate to the Lee National Denim Day movement in exchange for a day of wearing jeans to work. All donations collected by this Lee Jeans fundraiser are given to the American Cancer Society to support life-saving screenings in communities nationwide, hope and care to those traveling for cancer treatment, and investments in groundbreaking cancer research. Rebuilding Together provides low-income homeowners with critical repairs to their homes across the country. CBS works with local chapters in DC, MD and VA to modify and rehabilitate homes, restoring them to healthy, livable environments for families, thereby improving our communities. Our employees look forward to volunteering their time and employing their trade skills to improve the homes of others by participating annually in National Rebuilding Day every April.
